About Arteh
Simple pero elegante
Hi! I am Arteh, a traditional and digital artist who loves the colors of sunsets from the Philippines.I do fan arts and original artworks as my favorite pasttime! These artworks includes hand lettering, paintings, portraits, illustrations, and publication materials. I used a variety of mediums in my artwork such as gouache, acrylic, glitter pens, color pencils, stickers, fancy paper, and many more! The name "Arteh" is basically from the saying "The world without art, is just eh". I like doing art because it allows me to be me, and take the time to explore and relax as I try making new concepts, revamping my old ideas, starting new projects, and many more! I really like planning and exploring new ideas as those are the things that spark my inspiration to do art. I am also inspired by the people around me, my fellow artists, and the things that I like such as showing the beauty of the Philippines and the magic of happiness through art.As long as this passion is burning bright, Arteh will forever be simple pero elegante with each brush stroke I create in this lifetime.
Calligraphy is the one that really kickstarted me to do art as a hobby, and something that I do passionately. I started doing calligraphy in grade 7 as it was the biggest trend to have pretty notes, alongside with journaling and scrapbook making. I was inspired by Abbey Sy where she was known for her creative journaling and calligraphy pieces, and I really looked up to her during those times. This made me explore art as I tested different mediums such as watercolors, acrylic paint, different types of writing utensils, and many more. This is one of my favorite pastimes as I like to make letterings of my favorite songs from the band Eraserheads, and I made fanmade lyric videos to their songs by recording my whole lettering progress. I dream of creating one for an artist as I think it will be a really cool experience and something unique to watch as well.
Now, I have my very first official lyric video which is for the song titled “Susuyuin” by Bien Francko! It all started as a joke when I told him that I can do a lettering for his song as I share with him my favorite past time, which eventually turned into reality. It was a really memorable and special experience for me as I got to know more about Bien in the process, and at the same time, appreciate more about his work as an artist by being able to witness what goes into the making of his song. So I was really happy being able to be a part of this process of sharing to others what the song is all about in the form of lettering.

Traditional & Digital Art
After feeling that I had already explored everything in calligraphy, I moved first to traditional art. It all started with drawing landscapes, food, and eventually portraits. I started first with watercolors then moved to the main mediums I use today which are a mixture of gouache, acrylic, soft pastel, glitter pens, and colored pencils. Then, I eventually moved the digital art as I saw people online make art using a pen tab or a tablet which I find interesting. At first, I really hated it as it's such a huge difference to traditional art. But eventually, I was able to like it as I combined both of my traditional and digital skills in all of my artworks. What I do is I do the artwork first using traditional tools, then make them into digital art by scanning them and making final edits in Photoshop.
I have used both traditional and digital art for my commissions and conventions. I also used this to help other people as well by being one of the artists creating a coloring book to help solve literacy deprivation in the country. The group is called Project Dapat Aklat, and all of us created illustrations that represents various themes in the Philippines from food, places, values, and many more. I am happy to be able to be a part of this cause and be able to meet these artists, and help the children in the country.

Publication Materials
I do graphic design for the organizations and for Arteh as well! Here are my works from 2020 to present.I mainly use Photoshop and Canvas in making my publication materials.
Art Commissions
I started taking art commissions to help me gain extra income. I usually draw portraits, and sometimes I get commissioned to make a logo or publication material. Through this I was able to improve my skills in my craft, how I can connect with other people, learn the best platform to use to share my art, and many more.I also used this as a way to connect and help my fellow Filipinos by joining a group called “Lingkod Sining” where artists are gathered and we all offer art commission services, and a portion of our profit goes to the jeepney drivers in Mandaluyong city during the pandemic in the year 2020. I also have my own art of a cause project to raise funds for the victims to Typhoon Ulysses in the year 2021.If you are interested, I am open for commissions!
I started joining conventions in the year 2023 and the reason why I joined is because of the first convention I attended which is at CONQuest 2023. I saw that there were a lot of artists selling their artworks, and I thought of it as an opportunity to reach a particular audience and to connect with other artists as well.My experience in joining conventions taught me a lot about managing numerous things all at the same time. From the preparations, the illustrating, the financials, the marketing, the selling, and many more. For me, this is both a fun and crazy experience as I learn new things along the way. It is a combination of months of solo preparations, and my academic and organizational responsibilities. I learned that it takes a lot of time, courage, effort, and perseverance to be able to create something that brings you happiness, and something that also brings the same feeling to others. Even though it seems stressful and tiring, I still find happiness and motivation to move forward as I am able to give people who sees my art a smile on their faces and even inspire them to express themselves through art!I am really glad and thankful for my friends and family for their constant support and help before, during, and after the con, and for the people who visited (and plan to visit) my booth!
